Officers from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife in Chirundu District have killed a stray lion that has been on the loose.
The operation, in the early hours of today, was done with enforcement from Chilanga’s veterinary section.
The news of killing the stray lion will offer some kind of relief to some communities in the district that have been living in constant fear of imminent attacks from the pride of lions that is believed to have strayed from the Lower Zambezi National Park.
And Chirundu District Commissioner PATRICK KASAMBILA has hailed the dedication and commitment by officers from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife for killing the beast.
Mr. KASAMBILA implored parents and guardians to now allow their children to attend school as the threat posed by the lion is no longer there.
